Bartow - Harvey Hall, age 92, passed away on January 9, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born on October 26, 1931 in Bartow. Mr. Hall was a Civil Engineer, whose decades-long career with the State Road Department and then the Florida Department of Transportation took him and his family around the great state of Florida as an integral leader in the layout and construction of significant portions of the state highway system. When he retired from the FDOT in 1980, he returned to Bartow, continuing to practice as a Civil Engineer. He could answer just about any question you had about the roads through Polk County and central Florida! Mr. Hall also served his country honorably in the Florida National Guard between 1949 and 1958. Mr. Hall will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, as well as a man who strove to live his faith in all his personal interactions. He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Bartow, where he was a faithful attender and a critical part of the building committee for the church’s extension. Mr. Hall also devoted himself to the church’s spiritual health as a member of the prayer team and the benevolence ministry, as well as serving as a deacon for many years. Throughout his life, he and his beloved wife, Joanne, opened their home to countless men and women who needed a safe place to stay and to be assured they were loved children of God. Mr. Hall was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Joanne Hall, and his son, Philip Hall. He is survived by his son, Tom Hall and wife Karen; his daughter, Cathy Keim and husband Steve; his son, John Hall and wife Inés Triay. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Gabe Hall, Ben Keim, Seth Hall, Miriam Grunert, Kate Stephens, Reba Knight, Rachel Karvia, Paul Keim, Jonathan Keim, and his 13 great-grandchildren, Abigail, Evelyn, Teddy, Charlotte Anne, Tzipora, Aaron, Jane, Asher, Cora Rose, Eleanor, Naomi Grace, Alan and Lars Harvey. Family will receive friends on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow, and on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Bartow. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Bartow. Interment will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
