Willie L. Allbritton

Willie L. Allbritton, age 83, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at home in Eagle Lake. Born April 12, 1931 in Valdosta, GA, he was the son of the late Lee Alexander and Sally (Hartline) Allbritton. Willie was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army. After his service, he worked as an auto mechanic in Winter Haven at the Dodge and Plymouth dealerships. Mr. Allbritton went on to mechanic for the Polk County School Board and retired from the school board after many years of service. Willie is preceded in death by his first wife Carolyn Louise Allbritton in 1974. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ruth (Shouppe) Allbritton of Eagle Lake, two sons, Derrell Allbritton (Phyllis) of Valrico, Dennis Allbritton (Ellen) of Charlotte, NC, two daughters, Darlene Barrentine (Larry) of Fort Meade, and Rhonda Stamey (Tom) of Haines City, two brothers, Donnie Allbritton (JoAnn), Bobby Allbritton (Geri) both of Valdosta, GA, two sisters, Elvalena Chaney (Jimmy) also of Valdosta, GA, Eloise Harman (Charles) of College Park, GA, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 6pm to 8pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow Saturday, February 28th at 10:00am at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.
