William "Bill" Watts, Sr.

William "Bill" Watts, Sr. age 99, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025. He was born November 15, 1926 in Greenwood , SC to Erskine & Willie Mae Watts. Bill was a US Navy Veteran where he fought in World War II. After returning from the War, he started his Police Officer career with the City of Fort Meade and then went to work for the Polk County Sheriff's Office. He was a member of the Fort Meade Methodist Church, American Legion Post 3 and the Fraternal Order of Police. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Barbara "Meemaw" Watts and grandson James E. Watts, Jr. He is survived by his two sons Jim Watts & wife Lydia of Fort Meade, FL and William Watts, Jr. & wife Michelle of Odessa, FL, grandson Will Watts & wife Chantal and great grandson Edison Watts. Bill is also survived by his extended family Chris & Brandy Brown and their three children Kymber Crowell & husband Isaac, Colt and Remi Brown. Family will receive friends Monday, December 22, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Fort Meade Methodist Church, 135 East Broadway in Fort Meade, FL. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm Monday, December 22, 2025, at Fort Meade Methodist Church. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade, FL.
