William Alan Trask

Lakeland- William Alan Trask, age 85, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019, in Lakeland. Born June 26, 1933, in Bartow, he was the son of the late Griffin and Merle (Fennell) Trask. Mr. Trask graduated from Summerlin Institute in Bartow and attended the University of Florida. On his return to Polk County he joined his father in the citrus and cattle industry. Mr. Trask served as President of the Polk County Farm Bureau and eight years as a County Commissioner. He went on to serve as a Florida State Senator from 1968 to 1982. Later he owned Flora and Ella's Restaurant in LaBelle. Mr. Trask was a member of the Assemblies of God church. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Irene Trask, two sons Bill Trask and Scott Burchard, and one grandchild Alison Trask. He is survived by his children: Jane Trask Ganey, Don Trask (Donna), Ken Trask (Karen), Mary Legg Trask, Pam Pitre (Shawn), Chris Colee (Mara), Paul Colee (Lorrie), Debbie Klemmer (David), Sheryl Prickett, and John Roudabush. He also leaves behind three sisters Janet Heidtman, Mary Ann Pipping, and Bet James (Jackie), former spouses Janet Hartsaw Rogers and Jan Colee Trask-Horeni, nineteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 19th from 9am to 10am at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 10:00am at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to: Florida Sheriff’s Youth Villa.
