William B. Scarborough

William B. Scarborough, 88 of Bartow passed away April 21, 2013 of respiratory failure at Winter Haven Hospital. He came to Florida with his parents Gordon and Rebecca Scarborough and three brothers and two sisters in 1942 from Georgia. He worked in citrus for the first half of his life and retired as the Supervisor of the Maintenance Department for Polk County with 26 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Desser Scarborough. Three daughters Estell King, Edith Bailey and Barbara Fussell and one son Wardell Carmichael. William is survived by son Dan Carmichael and daughter Shirley Altman. Brother Eschol "Joe" Scarborough and sister Erma Teen Harless. Seventeen grandchildren and many great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25th from 6-8pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow on Friday at 10am at the funeral home.
