William C. Markle

William C. "Bill" Markle, Sr., age 79, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 in Lakeland. Born November 17, 1938 in Canonsburg, PA, he was the son of the late William and Edith (McCreary) Markle. Bill was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Markle was a Supervisor with U.S. Agri-Chemicals for many years. Mr. Markle was a member of the Florida Flywheelers, the V.F.W. of Fort Meade, the American Legion, Post #3 of Bartow, and was instrumental in organizing and starting Dixie Youth Baseball in Fort Meade in the early 1970's, where he served as President. Mr. Markle is preceded in death by his wife Patricia Markle, daughter Katherene Hall, and brother Richard Markle. He is survived by his children: Bill Markle, Jr. (Marilynn) of Bloomsburg, PA, Becky Markle-Silva (Chris) of Lakeland, Don Moyer, Jr .(Marti) of Linden, TN, Shirley Moyer-Ankrim (Dan) of Fort Meade, Bruce Moyer (Valerie) Of Lakeland, Susan Clawson of Missouri, Patti Curless (Bob) of Marietta, GA, Ron Hall (Maria) of Glen Burnie, MD, and Chrissy Mains of St. Petersburg. He also leaves behind two siblings: David Markle (June) , Elizabeth Kovic, along with nineteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends of Sunday, June 10th from 2pm to 4pm at McLean Funeral Home in Fort Meade. Funeral services will follow on Monday, June 11th at 10:00am at the funeral home chapel.
