William Marvin Lanier

Mr. William Marvin Lanier, 83, of Fort Meade, FL, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at his Residence in Fort Meade. Mr. Lanier was born November 5, 1925 in Dothan, AL. He lived most of his life in Fort Meade. Mr. Lanier served in the US Army Infantry during WWII, from the beaches of Normandy, through the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the American Legion post 23 and a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a Supervisor for Coca-Cola Company for 42 years and was a member of Cornerstone Church of God. He was preceded in death by his daughter Rita Lanier. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Velma Cannon Lanier of Fort Meade. Two Daughters, Sandy & Kenny DeVane of Fort Meade and Brenda & Jim Looker of Panama City. One Son, Dale & Cathy Lanier of Fort Meade. Two Sisters, Eunice & Don LaFavers of Apopka and Louise Asbel of Winter Garden. Four Grandchildren, Jason & Olivia DeVane, Derek & Brooke DeVane, Kyle DeVane and Lynn & Junior Shiver all of Fort Meade. Ten Great Grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by McLean Funeral Home, 306 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday, June 22, 2009. Funeral service will be at First Baptist Church of Fort Meade at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 23, 2009 , Rev. Kenny Slay & Rev. Ed Kendrick officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade. Contributions can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
