Wayne Hill

Wayne "Bunker" Hill, age 85, passed away from respiratory failure Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Lakeland. Born February 18, 1929 in Fort Meade, he was the son of the late David Bennett Hill and Alice Hancock Hill. Mr. Hill attended the University of Florida and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He retired from IMC Phosphate in Bartow where he worked as a Float Gang Supervisor. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth D. Hill and two sisters: Joyce Hill Harris and Iris Lavon Hill. He is survived by his son David Hill (Tina) of Bartow, Leah Snell (Wayne) of Homeland, brother Bob Hill (Janet) of Little Gasparilla Island, two grandchildren: Jodi Snell, Chris Snell (Tracy), and two great grandchildren: Paisley Snell, and Hunter Snell. The family will receive friends Friday, March 21st from 6PM to 8PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, March 22nd at 10:00AM at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hancock Family Cemetery, 801 S.
