Bartow, FL. W. Wallace Orr, 92, of Bartow, FL died on Monday, April 4, 2016 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Wallace was born in Gastonia, NC on January 2, 1924 to the late E. N. Orr and Jesse Boyce Orr, then moved to Charlotte, NC as a young child. He remained there until joining the Army to serve in World War II. Following his service he graduated from Erskine College where he met his future wife Barbara Hunter. Wallace moved to Bartow where he began his career at Hatton Insurance Agency. He was called back to serve during the Korean Conflict. After his time of service, he returned to Bartow and married Barbara Hunter. He resumed work at Hatton Insurance serving as president for 48 years. He was a life long member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church serving as an elder for many years. He was also an active member of the Bartow Kiwanis Club. Survivors include his wife Barbara of 64 years, his son William W. and his wife Susan, sister-in-law Lynda H. Black and many close family members. Visitation will be held at their home on Thursday, April 7, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 8 at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Bartow at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bonclarken Conference Center, 500 Pine Drive, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
