Vernon Gilbert Flatt

Vernon "Gilbert" Flatt 75 of Bartow passed away Jan. 23, 2010 from complications of Alzheimers at Palm Terrace Hospice in Lakeland. A native of Alabama he moved to Bartow from Tennessee in 1957. He worked as a shipping clerk for Alturas Packing and retired from Hunt Brothers Citrus in Lake Wales. He was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the Word of Life Worship in Bartow. He also enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Louise Flatt of Bartow; daughters Dian Miller and husband Ray of Lakeland; Jenny Wiggins and husband Ralph of Mulberry; sons Michael Aycock and wife Melissa of Bartow; Joe Aycock of Bartow; Johnny Aycock of Wesbster; Greg Flatt and wife Vicki of Homestead; 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; Family will receive friends Tuesday 01/26/2010 from 6-8pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow and services will follow on Wednesday at 10am at the funeral home.
