Vernon C. Cartwright

Vernon C. Cartwright, age 97, passed away from natural causes Friday, October 19, 2012 at home in Bartow. Born August 1, 1915 in Cora, Florida, he was the son of the late William Marshall and Ida Guttery Cartwright. Mr. Cartwright was a longtime resident of Bartow and formerly worked as a Carpenter for Estech in Bartow . He was member of Main Street Baptist Baptist Church in Bartow. Mr. Cartwright is preceded in death by his wife Lillie M. Cartwright and daughter Glenda Sue Cartwright, two sisters; Nadine Broom and Lillian Cozart. He is survived by his son Donald V. Cartwright of Bartow, his three daughters; Barbara Cartwright, Nina Curtis, and Verna M. Lewis all of Bartow. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday October 22nd from 6PM to 8PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow Tuesday, October 23rd at 11AM at the funeral home chapel.
