Verna Lastinger

Fort Meade - Verna Lastinger 72, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Verna was born October 3, 1943 in Wauchula, FL, She was a Bookkeeper for DeVane Harvesting. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade. Mrs. Lastinger was preceded in death by her brother George Frank and sister Anna Bethea. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Melvin "Pyatt" Lastinger of Fort Meade. Daughter Teresa Porter (Jay) of Fort Meade. Three sisters, Lucille Fite (Bob) Aurora, CO, Bertha Stephens and Alma Durrance (Ray) both Wauchula, FL. Grandson Trey Porter and Granddaughter Tiffany Porter. Family will receive friends Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 10 - 11 am at First Baptist Church of Fort Meade, 307 East Broadway in Fort Meade. Funeral service will follow Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Fort Meade. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade. Memorials may be made to Florida Baptist Children's Home.
