Vera Carver Acorn

Bartow - Vera Carver Acorn, 90, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at her residence in Bartow of natural causes . Born January 2, 1922 in Ambrose, GA, Mrs. Acorn was a resident of the Bartow & Fort Meade area for 59 years, moving from Douglas, GA. She was a sectionizer for Ben Hill Griffin Citrus for 40 years. She was a member of Turning Point Worship Center. She was preceded in death by her husband: Loren L. Acorn; son: James Acorn; daughter: Hazelene Armstrong; parents: Charlie & Fannie Carver; two brothers: Felton Carver & Carlton Carver. Mrs. Acorn was survived by 2 sons: Herman L. Acorn & wife Diane; Carlton L. Acorn all of Bartow. 2 daughters: Wanda Cabanas & husband Oscar of Bartow; Gloria Burgess & husband Larry of Plant City; sister - Irene McKinnon of Douglas, GA; brother: Hollis Carver & wife Wilma of Macclenny, FL; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren & 6 great great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Friday, April 27, 2012, 6-8 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow, Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Turning Point Worship Center, 1400 E. Georgia St, Bartow. Interment will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
