Bartow- Van Harrison, age 90, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 at his home in Bartow. Born August 18, 1928 in Hurricane, AL, he was the son of the late Melvin Harrison and Subinner (Creech) Harrison. Mr. Harrison served in the the Merchant Marines during the Korean War. Van retired from W.R. Grace and Company after 35 years of service where he was a Master Machinist. Along with his parents, Mr. Harrison is preceded in death by by his wife, Louise Harrison in 2009, his son-in-law, Kenneth Cochran, his granddaughter, Lynn Cochran and two great grandsons: Ryan and Aidan Maton. He is survived by a loving family that includes his daughters: Gale Cochran of Bartow, Tina Moore (Greg) of Lithia, his grandchildren: Keith Cochran (Julie) of Bartow, Cindy Benzel (Carl) of Alliance, NE, Cassidy Carroll (James) of Lakeland, Morgan Johnson (Mike) also of Lakeland, Amanda Moore (Matt Maton) of Brandon along with nine great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 10:00am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at Alz.org.
