Tommie A. Jenkins

Bartow- Tommie Ann Jenkins, age 83, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020. Born on October 12, 1937 in Bellevue, TX, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Brina (Phelps) Porter. Tommie worked as Account Manager for Smith Brother's Oil Company in Bartow for over 30 years. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow, the Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority for over 50 years, the Golden Age Club and Lakeland Social Singles. She also was a Diplomat for the Bartow Chamber of Commerce, a dedicated volunteer for the Polk County School Board and was a member of the Bartow Library Book Club. She had a passion for reading, dancing, traveling, cooking and spending time with her friends and family, especially her precious granddaughter, Ashley. Tommie is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jenkins and her three sisters: Archie Lou Langford, Elsie Helen Stover and Marece Reese and her nephew Sam Reese. She is survived by her loving daughter, Paula Jackson (Jeff) of Bartow, her granddaughter, Ashley Jackson of Bartow and her nephews: Berry Langford (Pat) of Corpus Christi, TX, Jerry Langford (Trish) of San Antonio, TX, Larry Langford (Jeanette) of Port Isabel, TX, Randy Reese (Lori) also of San Antonio, TX and niece Gloria Reese of Austin, TX. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor, warm friendship to everyone she met and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family deeply appreciates the dedication and kindness of the Savannah Court staff along with her loving caregivers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 6th from 10am to 11am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. A memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice.
