Tibor Spagina

Lakeland, FL -Tibor Spagina , age 81, passed away Friday, October 23, 2026, at his residence in Lakeland. He was born on October 20, 1945, in Zabar, Hungary. Graduated from Florida Southern College and finished his Master’s at USF. He worked as a foreign language teacher at Plant City High School. He spoke 7 languages. He was a member of the Resurrection Catholic Church. He enjoyed his trips to Publix and buying lottery tickets. He enjoyed cooking Hungarian meals and pastries. He loved watching soccer and other sports. He loved telling his own jokes or joking about something. Most of all, he loved attending his grandchildren’s activities, sports, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Ana Zuloeta Spagina of Lakeland, daughters Ana-Margit Spagina Thornton (son in law Joel Thornton Jr.) of Lakeland, and Nathalie Marie Spagina Harrison of Lakeland. Grandchildren Makenzie Thornton, Luke Thornton, Preston Thornton, Ariana Thornton, Roman Thornton, Sienna Thornton, Mattie Harrison, Ace Harrison, his family in Hungary, many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 17, 2026 from 10-11AM at Resurrection Catholic Church. Followed by Funeral Mass. Interment will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
