Thomas H. Vansciver

Mr. Thomas H. Vansciver, age 35, passed away in an auto accident Sunday, October 28, 2007 in Plant City. Born on August 15, 1972 in Burlington County New Jersey, he was a longtime Polk County resident. Mr. Vansciver worked as a Nurse Technician for Winter Haven Hospital and formerly worked as a Homicide Detective for the Polk County Sheriff's Office. He was also an Army Veteran. He is survived by his wife Ashlee Merlino of Lakeland, his son, Logan Vansciver, his parents, Jean and John Davis of Punta Gorda, two brothers; Chris Davis of Punta Gorda, Shawn Davis of Reidsville, GA , two sisters; Tracy Vansciver of North Port, and Amy Varnam of Punta Gorda. He also leaves behind a half brother, Seth Vansciver and a half sister Amber Vansciver both of North Port, along with several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home 650 East Main Street in Bartow, where family will receive friends Friday November 2, 2007 from 6 PM to 8 PM. Services will follow Saturday November 3, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home chapel.
