Thelma Harley

Thelma L Harley, age 99 , of Lakeland, FL, died Sunday, November 13, 2011. Thelma was born in Arcadia ,Florida. In childhood and youth she participated in the activities provided in her local church-First Baptist Church of Arcadia. She served on the staff of the following churches in Florida: First Baptist ofFort Myers, Riverside,Tampa (twice), Lakeland, Allapattah and Miami. While working in local churches as educational director,she participated and held offices in Sunday School,Training Union, and W.M.U. associational work. She served as associate in Sunday School Department, Florida Baptist Convention, during 1954-55. Her duties included field work, promotional work and age group conferences. After serving at First Baptist Church of Thomasville,GA ,she joined the staff at First Baptist of Atlanta,as Director of Children's Work, in 1960. She was active in Atlanta Associational activities. She enjoyed reading and music. Her hobby was ceramics. She is survived by many loving Nieces & Nephews. Graveside service will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Arcadia, FL, Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 11:00 am.
