Sylvia W. Hickman

Mrs. Sylvia Willis Hickman, age 72, died Monday June 28, 2010 in Haines City. Born May 12, 1938 in Lake Wales, Mrs. Hickman was the daughter of the late Charlie Mack and Ethel (Harrelson) Willis. Mrs. Hickman moved to Haines City nine years ago from Bartow. She attended McLeod Memorial Presbyterian Church of Bartow. Mrs. Hickman worked for 30 years for the Polk County Property Appraiser's office. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jackie L. Hickman, Sr. of Haines City, two sons; Joseph E. Hickman, Sr. of Haines City and Jackie L. Hickman, Jr. also of Haines City, and one daughter, Julie Allen of Bartow. She also leaves behind one sister, Beata Neal of Raleigh, NC, twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 East Main Street in Bartow where the family will receive friends Thursday, July 1st from 6pm to 8pm. Service for Mrs. Hickman will follow Friday, July 2nd at 11:00am at the funeral home chapel.
