Susan Kay Knox

Susan Knox, a beloved wife, cherished stepmother, and friend to many, passed away on September 12, 2026. Born on July 16, 1952, in Dixon, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Don and Mary McBride.

Susan’s life was a testament to love, kindness, and a profound connection to nature and family. Growing up in Dixon, Susan developed a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. She met her husband, James "Jim" Ray Knox, in her hometown, and together they built a life filled with love and countless shared passions. Susan and James were married in Dixon, where they lived and nurtured their love for gardening, birdwatching, and bowling. Their home was always alive with vibrant gardens, hummingbirds, and other wildlife that came to visit.

Susan’s career began as a factory worker in vehicle production, but her true vocation was as a devoted wife and stepmother. When she and James moved to Florida, Susan embraced the warmth and sunshine; she continued her love for the outdoors and joined a women's golf club. Her love for animals was evident, and although she was a fan of cats—especially Garfield—she happily shared her home with just one feline friend at a time.

Known for her warmth and generosity, Susan had a remarkable ability to connect with her large family. She was a loving sister to her two brothers and two sisters and took great joy in keeping close ties with her 10 nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and nephews. In her later years, she found enjoyment in building civilizations in online games, always eager to learn and explore new things.

Her life was a beautiful reminder of love, family, and the gentle beauty of nature. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those she touched.
