Mr. Stewart Wallace Irwin, age 81, of Lakeland, Fla., died Friday, January 11, 2008, in Lakeland, Fla. A native of Town of Russia, NY, and attended schools in Poland, NY. Mr Irwin lived in Fort Meade several years before moving to Lakeland. He was of the Lutherian faith. He was a World War II Army veteran, with the Heavy Weapons Depot of the US Infantry, serving in France, Germany, Luxenburg & Cechoslovakia. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Irwin was a graduate engineer, attending Utica College, NY and earning a degree in Industrial Management in 1950. In 1948 he was married to Terri Helmer in Propect, NY. He was a math and science teacher at the Remsen Central School in 1951-55, leaving to work in management of the Northern Lumber Company in Poland, NY. He also worked with Georgia Pacific Corp. and Hammermill Hardwoods in Erie, PA and Augusta, GA. He is survived by his wife: Terry Irwin of Lakeland; son: Kim H. & wife Nancy Irwin of Temple Terrace, FL; brothers: Duane Irwin of Cold Brook, N.Y.; Bill Irwin of Poland, N.Y.; sisters: Ada Dagenkolb of Cold Brook, N.Y.; Laura Czar of South Carolina; & Alice Truscello of New Jersey; 2 grandchildren: Kate Irwin of Sarasota, Fl & Kurt Irwin of Temple Terrace, Fl.
