Stewart E. Adams

Bartow–Stewart E. Adams, age 92, a longtime resident and business owner entered heaven’s glory on July 18, 2021 from Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, FL. A machinist and trusted auto mechanic led Stewart to move from Massachusetts to Florida in the 1970s and open Adams & Son’s Texaco on north Hwy. 98 and later on Hwy. 17. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge-Vernon and inducted as a Life Member into the MA Grand Lodge in 2018. The community knew Mr. Adams for his honesty, quality of work, trustworthiness, kindness, and willingness to always help others. His two great joys in life were his family and restoring his beloved Model T Ford. He enjoyed automobiles, exploring and learning new technologies, and woodturning. His wife Theresa Adams (née Legere) and son Paul Adams preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving family that includes his sons Richard Adams (Patricia), Raymond Adams (Darlene) & James Wininger (Diane), daughter Susan Chase (James), sister Joan Hennessy, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Family will receive friends on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 23, 2021 at 6:45 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home.
