Fort Meade - Shirley Childress Gobble, age 77, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020. She was born February 2, 1943 in Fort Meade, FL to Harold & Flossie Childress, Shirley worked for the Polk County School Board as a Paraprofessional. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church of God in Fort Meade. She was preceded in death by her sister Julie Tice and brother Ronnie Childress. She is survived by her husband Dan Gobble of Fort Meade, daughter Anita Bigsby & husband Edward of Fort Meade, three grandsons Stephen Bigsby, Jacob Bigsby and Aaron Bigsby. Four brothers Harold Childress & wife Irene of Fort Meade, Donnie Childress & wife Carol of Fort Meade, Paul Childress & wife Lorraine of North Carolina, Gary Childress & wife Kay of Kansas and two sisters Margaret Grandmont of Fort Meade and Virginia Williams of Bartow. Family will receive friends Monday, September 21, 2020 from 5 to 7 pm at McLean Funeral Home of Fort Meade. Funeral service will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Cornerstone Church of God in Fort Meade. Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Fort Meade, FL.
