Shirley A. Colson

Bartow - Shirley A. Colson , age 91, passed away on December 15, 2024, at Highlands Lake Center in Lakeland . She was born on September 6, 1933, in Hillsdale, MI. Mrs. Colson worked as a foster parent for Florida Baptist Children's Home and served as a missionary with her husband, John Colson, for several years in Guatemala. She loved serving the Lord and attended Victory Fellowship Church after moving to Bartow. Shirley also had a love for animals, especially her dogs, Pepper and Sparky. She was preceded in death by her husband John Colson, son Carl Bowen and daughter Laurie Sue Bowen. She is survived by her loving family that includes her sons Pastor Paul G. Bowen, Sr. of Bartow and Bradley Bowen of Sevierville, TN and two daughters Michele Tessier of Vero Beach & Anne Marie Chaffin of Sevierville, TN. Mrs. Colson is also survived by stepson Jack Colson of Guatemala City and stepdaughter Jill Brown of NC; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Friday, January 10, 2025 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Victory Fellowship Church. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Victory Fellowship Church. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Burial Park, Lakeland.
