Shirley E. Carmichael

Mrs. Shirley E. Carmichael passed away from cancer Thursday, July 5, 2007 at her home in Lakeland. She was 68. Born on January 26, 1939 the daughter of the late Thomas and Thelma Geiger, Mrs. Carmichael was a lifelong Polk County resident. She was a homemaker and also worked as an in-home caregiver to many. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Alec Wardell Carmichael. Mrs. Camichael is survived by a loving family that includes six sons; Leon Hampton of Altamonte Springs, Joey Bruce of Winter Haven, Pernell Carmichael of Polk County, Daniel Carmichael of Winter Haven, Billy Moore of Lakeland, and Charles A. Carmichael of Winter Haven, also three daughters; Barbara Jane Moore of Blackshear, GA, Brenda Newman of Frostproof, and Jeannie Fuqua of Winter Haven. Along with her children, she leaves behind a brother Roy Geiger of Kentucky, twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, July 8, 2007 from 4 PM to 6 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 East Main Street, Bartow. Graveside services for Mrs. Carmichael will follow Monday, July 9, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.
