Sharon C. Wood

Mrs. Sharon C. Wood, age 62, returned home to her Heavenly Father Thursday, March 5, 2009 in Lakeland. Born September 25, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Carl Donald and Avis Marie Carlone. Mrs. Wood was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend – the cornerstone of her family. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she enjoyed volunteering in her church's genealogy library. Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband Jack Wood of Lakeland, daughter Amanda DeLauter (Richard) of Springfield, VA, four sons; H. Tyler Maits (Wydetth) of Springdale, Ark., Robert Maits (Judith) of Port Orchard, WA, Christopher Maits (Laura) of Boulder, CO, and Darrin Fort (Louise) of Fort Meade. She also leaves behind three step daughters; Cassandra Miller of Reno, NV, Cynthia Gibson (David) of Sachse, TX, Kristina Johnston of Lewisville, TX, a sister Gail Fleming of Port Charlotte, and fifteen grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home 650 East Main Street in Bartow where family will receive friends Tuesday, March 10th from 10 to 11 am. Services for Mrs. Wood will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home chapel.
