Scottie D. Baxter

Bartow- Scottie Duel Baxter, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 in Lakeland, Born March 31, 1943 in Cullman, AL he was the son of the late Toxie and Esther (Edwards) Baxter. Mr. Baxter worked as a carpenter in the construction industry for many years. He also was Deacon of Turning Point Worship Center in Bartow. Along with his parents, Mr. Baxter is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Baxter and his siblings: Euel Baxter, Lola Mae Long and Louise Clements. He is survived by his children: Retha Griner (Jeffrey), Rhonda Tillman (James), Sharlin Griner (Chad), Scottie L. Baxter (Valarie) all of Bartow and Phillip Baxter (Melissa) of Auburndale. He also leaves behind his siblings: Erskin Baxter (Jackie), Dale Baxter, Mary "Sue" Fortner, Doris Hickman, fourteen grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 13th from 10am to 11am at Turning Point Worship Center, 1400 East Georgia Street in Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at the church.
