Sarah "Betty" Elizabeth Toney

Sarah Elizabeth 'Betty' Toney, 73, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014, due to heart failure. Betty was a Pharmacist Assistant at Varn's Pharmacy in Fort Meade. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and served as President of Fort Meade Unit #23 for 20 years. She was also active in PTA where she served as President and in the FMHS Band Boosters. But most importantly she was a loving and dedicated wife, a perfect mother and an awesome grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Frank Toney of Haines City; daughter, Ann Toney-Deal (Greg) of Haines City and son, William Toney (Kim) of Winter Haven; and brother John Rhodes of Blairsville, GA. But the absolute joy of her life was her grandchildren: Zachary & Nicholas Toney of Winter Haven and Gregory & Caitlin Elizabeth Deal of Haines City. She was preceded in death by her parents John Rhodes and Shirley Rhodes Massey and sister Joy Wainswright. She is a member of the Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am, Friday, November 14, 2014 at McLean Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery at 11:00am. Immediately following the graveside ceremony a reception/lunch "Gator Gathering" in celebration of her life will be held at the First United Methodist Church's Rowell Hall in Fort Meade.
