Santos Rodriguez Arteaga

Mrs. Santos Rodriguez Arteaga, age 84, passed away from respiratory failure Sunday, July 12, 2009 at her home in Bartow. Born October 16, 1924 in Tamaulipas, Mexico, Mrs. Arteaga had been a resident of Bartow for the past 8 years moving from Wauchula, where the family had lived since 1966. Mrs. Arteaga was a homemaker and a member of Centro Guadalupano Catholic Mission in Wahneta. Mrs. Arteaga became a U.S. citizen in 1998. She is preceded in death by two infant daughters and four siblings. Mrs Arteaga is survived by a loving family that includes her husband of 55 years, Primitivo Arteaga, Sr. of Bartow, three sons; Primitivo Arteaga, Jr. (Blanca), Jesse Arteaga, Adolfo Arteaga (Veronica) all of Bartow, two daughters; Santos Alvarado (Jose) of Auburndale, Ana Delgado (Enrique) of Bartow, her brother Silverio Rodriguez, two sisters; Martha Chapa, and Balbina Flores all of Mission, TX. She also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren; Mary Soto, Jose Alvarado, Jr., Juan Alvarado, Jesus Alvarado, Primitivo Arteaga, III, Sonia Carbajal, Jose Angel Arteaga, Rosenda Melchor, Lorena Arteaga, Zuriel Arteaga, Itzel Arteaga, Uzuel Arteaga, Azziel Arteaga, Javier Delgado, Joel Delgado, and seven great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday July 16th from 6-8pm, with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 East Main Street in Bartow. A Funeral Mass will follow Friday, July 17th at 10:00am at Centro Guadalupano Catholic Mission, 2150 Bomber Road in Wahneta.
