Samuel "S.T." Glisson

Samuel T. "S.T." Glisson, 88, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at his residence of cancer. Born July 21, 1926 in Seminole County, GA, Mr. Glisson was a resident of Bartow since 1954, moving from Donalsonville, GA. He was a heavy equipment operator for Armour & U.S. Steel Phosphate for many years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division as a parachute instructor and radio operator. He was a member of the Bartow First Baptist Church and the Bartow American Legion Post 3. He is preceded in death by his first wife: Edith Glisson. Mr. Glisson is survived by his wife: Ethleen G. Glisson, Bartow; two daughters: Myra Glisson , Bartow & Lisa Olinger [Norris], Auburndale; step son: Richard J. Sanchez [Phyllis], Lakeland, step daughter: Jackie McCoy [Gary] Royal Palm Beach FL, sister: Jean Moore, Jacksonville; brother: Thomas J. Glisson, Bainbridge, GA; six grandchildren & two great grandchild. Family will receive friends Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 23, 2014, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
