Ruth E. Long

Ruth E. Long, age 81, went home to be with her Lord from respiratory failure on Thursday, July 30, 2014 in Bartow. Born January 7, 1933 in Bartow she was the daughter of the late Robert James and Dorothy Irene Walker. Mrs. Long was a homemaker and longtime member of the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church in Bartow. Ruth is also preceded in death by her first husband, Junior Alex Roper. She is survived by a loving family that includes her husband of 60 years, Denver E. Long of Bartow, three sons: Daniel A. Roper (Ginny) of Lakeland , Marty Long, Greg Long (Jackie) all of Bartow, along with seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday August 1st from 6 PM to 8 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, August 2nd at 11:00 AM at the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church in Bartow.
