Ruth Wood Broxson

Mrs. Ruth Wood Broxson, age 86, passed away from heart failure Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Born February 8, 1926 in Coffee Springs, AL, she was the daughter of the late Jesse James and Mary Emma (Commander) Wood. Mrs. Broxson was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow where she was a member of the Friendship class and formerly worked in the nursery. She also taught in the preschool department and Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Broxson is preceded in death by her husband Melvin Broxson and son George Broxson. She is survived by a loving family that includes her daughter Barbara Stephens and husband Jimmie of Lakeland, two sons; Jerry Broxson of De Funiak Springs, Michael Broxson of Bartow, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow where the family will receive friends Friday, March 23rd from 1PM to 2PM. Funeral services will follow at 2:00PM at the funeral home chapel.
