Ruth J. Brickey

Ruth J. Brickey, age 77, of Bartow, died Friday, October 31, 2008, at her residence. Born June 18, 1931 in Wise County Virginia, Mrs. Brickey has been a resident of Bartow for 29 yrs, moving from Lake Wales. Mrs. Brickey was employed by Orange CO Citrus for several years. She attended the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church of Bartow. She was preceded in death by her husband: Buford R. Brickey & two daughters: Judy Hadden & Elizabeth Avila. She is survived by her four daughters: Charlette Carmichael of Harpersville, AL; Barbara Fields of Bartow; Oralee Spivey of Winter Haven; & Colleen Harris of Brandon. One son: J. R. Brickey of Winter Haven; Two step Sons: Howard Brogden & Johnny Brogden both of Bartow. Sister: Nola Gardner of Ohio; brother: Dewey Sulfridge of Winter Haven; several grandchildren & great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Sunday November 2, 2008, 2-4 pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Monday November 3, 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
