Rubye H. Duncan

Rubye H. Ducan 86 of Bartow passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from respiratory failure at her residence. Born in Hale County, AL she resided in Bartow for the last fifty six years. Rubye worked at the Colony Shop in Lakeland, Plant City and retired as the manager from the Colony Shop in Bartow after 22 years of service. She was a Fifty Six year member of The First Baptist Church of Bartow and past member of the Bartow Zonta Club and the Lakeland Amateur Radio Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years Al Duncan. Rubye is survived by daughter Janie D. Ponson of Bartow, son Marty Duncan and wife Maria of Bartow and daughter LoLee Duncan of Lakeland. Sister Mildred Watkins of Birmingham, AL and brother Robert Haggard of Vinemont, AL. Five grandchildren Ashley, Steven, Casey, Kelsey, James and two great grandchildren Breanna and Sienna. A visitation will be held Friday, January 6th from 6-8pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow and services will follow on Saturday at 11am at the First Baptist Church of Bartow. Burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
