Ruby Jane Viers Carver, age 86, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 in Bartow. Born August 23, 1929 in Seffner, FL, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Edna (Lester) Viers. Ruby retired after many years with Polk County as a Data Processor Supervisor. After the death of her first husband William E. Duffey in 1974, Ruby remarried Henry J. Carver who passed away in 2012. Henry and Ruby owned and operated Henry's Auto Parts in Bartow. After retiring Henry and Ruby traveled the U.S. and Canada in their motor home enjoying life and many adventures. Ruby enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and having fun with her many friends and family. She is survived by a loving family that includes her two children: Laura Frankenburger (Jack) of Bartow, William E."Bill" Duffey (Ani) of Indonesia, her step children: Chester "Chet" Carver (Linda) of Bartow, Christina "Reena" Flewellen (Mike) of Lakeland, and Sharon G. Hughes (Ray) of Polk City. She also leaves behind her brother Rev. John M. Viers (Christine) of Graceville, fifteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday, February 19th from 6pm to 8pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow Saturday, February 20th at 2:00pm at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 205 East Stanford Street in Bartow.
