Roy Lavon Phillips

Bartow- Roy Lavon Phillips, age 82, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 in Lakeland. Born April 8, 1938 in Bonifay, he was the son of the late Eugene and Minnie (Payne) Phillips. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he was raised Pentecostal. He worked in many different industries throughout his working career and especially loved being a Commercial Fisherman. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sons: Gary Foust and Roy L. Phillips, II, along with his siblings: Carl Phillips, Daniel Phillips and Mary Lois Phillips. He is survived by a loving family that includes his children: Selina Lavonne Phillips of Homeland, Renee Arlt (Henry) of Lakeland, his sister, Lucille Holley of Alabama, and his brother, Franklin Phillips of Winter Haven. Mr. Phillips also leaves behind his seven grandchildren: Casey, Andrew, Candra, Trae, Chenoa, Morgan and Camberlyn along with three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 10am to 11am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home of Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at the funeral home chapel.
