Roy "Larry" Mims

Roy "Larry" Mims, age 85, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022. He was born March 15, 1937 in Auburndale, FL to Roy & Burenice Mims. He played the trumpet in the Bartow High School Marching Band, which led to a lifelong love for music. He was also a member of the Cypress Gardens Ski team. Larry was raised in Bartow FL, lived much of his life in Dallas Texas and most recently Palm Harbor Florida. He was a Veteran serving in the US Navy. Larry was a former member of Bartow First Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his sister Margaret Ann (Peggy) Driggers, he is survived by his wife Blair Drake Mims, daughter Kelly White of Bartow, two step sons William " Bill " Landy & wife Melissa and Ernest "Ernie " Landy & wife Shaunaugh, sister Betty Whitten & husband Hubertt, grandchildren Lee White & fiancé Lisa, Ryan White, wife Ashley and daughter Aubrey, and Leslie White, as well as Step-Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren residing in Texas. Visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 am Friday, May 27, 2022 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can go to Wounded Warrior Project or Wreaths Across America.
