Roy Lester Hampton

Mr. Roy L. Hampton, age 88, of Fort Meade, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011. Mr. Hampton was born on August 23, 1922 in Carter County, TN. He worked as a Service Manager for Turnip C. Chevrolet in Ocala. Mr. Hampton was a Army Veteran of WWII where he earned the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart along with serveral other medals. He is survived by his grandchildren Edgar Hampton of Lakeland, Theresa Earnest of Fort Meade, Byron Hampton of Salt Lake City, UT, daughter in law Faye Hampton of Lakeland, brother William "Wimpy" Hampton of Tennessee, sister Mozella "Sissy" Orr also of Tennessee and six great grandchildren. Graveside services with military honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell on Thursday February 17th at 11:00AM.
