Roy V. Chapman, age 75, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at home. Born, August 17, 1932 in Bowling Green, FL, Mr. Chapman was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Chapman retired from U.S. Agri-Chemicals where he had worked as a heavy equipment mechanic. He was a longtime member and Senior Deacon of the Church of God of Bartow. He belonged to the American Legion Post #3 and was a former member of Gideons International. He also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Myrtle L Chapman, son Michael Chapman (Karen) of Lakeland, son David Chapman (Norma) of Ohatchee, AL, daughter Vivian Peacock of Bartow, and son Mark Chapman (Jackie) also of Bartow. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and nine step great grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home 650 East Main Street in Bartow where family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM Friday March 7, 2008. Services will be held Saturday March 8, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Church of God of Bartow 1460 East Stuart Street. Memorial Contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice 105 Arneson Ave. Auburndale, FL 33823, or the Church of God of Bartow Building Fund 1460 East Stuart Street, Bartow, FL 33830, or Gideons International.
