Rodney Everett Johnson, age 70, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025. He was born January 31, 1955 in Bartow, FL. Rodney worked for the Department of Transportation in Maintenance. He was of the Church of God Faith. Rodney was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Upthegrove Johnson and his father, Everett Johnson. Though he has now joined them, his presence will always be felt in the hearts of those who loved him.. Rodney is survived sisters Jan Thompson & husband Joe of Bartow, Kay Foster & husband Geoff of Bartow and Debbie Thomas & husband Donald of Wauchula, brother Keith Johnson of Bartow and numerous nieces & nephews. Rodney was a man who lived life on his own terms, with a quiet strength and a heart full of kindness. He was a brother, an uncle, a friend, and a steady presence in the lives of those who knew him. His sisters—Debbie, Kay, and Jan—and his brother, Keith, shared a bond with him that was built on love, laughter, and a lifetime of memories. One of Rodney’s greatest joys in life was fishing. He found peace on the water, whether it was a quiet morning casting a line or the thrill of a good catch. Fishing wasn’t just a pastime for Rodney—it was where he felt at home, where he could reflect, and where he could simply enjoy the moment. Those who knew him well could always count on him to share a fishing story or two, often with that signature smile that said he was exactly where he wanted to be. Rodney may not have had children of his own, but he was deeply cherished by his family. His quiet nature often spoke louder than words, and his loyalty to those he cared for was unwavering. Whether it was through a simple act of kindness or just being there when it mattered most, Rodney made an impact that will not be forgotten. As we say goodbye, let us not dwell on the sorrow of his passing, but instead, celebrate the life he lived. Let us remember the laughter he shared, the kindness he showed, and the love he had for his family. And perhaps, the next time we find ourselves by the water’s edge, feeling the gentle pull of a fishing line, we’ll think of Rodney and smile, knowing he’s found his perfect fishing spot in heaven. Rest in peace, Rodney. You will be missed, but you will never be forgotten. Family will receive friends Monday, March 3, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at McLean Funeral Home in Fort Meade, FL.
