Roberta Scanlin Yates

Roberta Scanlin Yates, age 85, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 in Bartow. Born October 31, 1930 in Homeland, FL, she was the daughter of the the late John and Maude (Simpson) Scanlin. Roberta was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow and retired after 36 years of service as a secretary for I.M.C. She is survived by a loving family that includes her husband, of 66 years, Robert L. Yates, Sr. of Bartow, her children: Robert L. Yates, Jr. of Lakeland, and Donna G. Lyle (Clint) of Bartow. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 3rd from 9:30am to 10:30am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Graveside services will follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 3rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.
