Robert Sampson

Bartow- Robert H. Sampson, 87, died Sun, June 29, 2008, at Palm Terrace Hospice in Lakeland of respiratory failure. Born Feb 2, 1921 in Henderson, W.V., He was the son of Rev. Frank A. & Glena Toothman Sampson. He was married to Kathleen P. White in 1943. Mr. Sampson has been a resident of Bartow since 1947. He was former Chief Deputy Property Appraiser for Polk County. He was formerly with the Polk County School Board & IMC Phosphate. He was a member of the International Assessers Organization; a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bartow, the Bartow Lions Club & the Bartow Golf & County Club.. He is preceded in death by his wife: Kathleen Sampson & daughter: Sandra Kay Sampson; three brothers: Calvin, Garland & Charles; 2 sisters: Jenevere & Gerturde. He is survived by two sisters: Wanda Jean Currence of Baltimore, MD & Mollie Stonebreaker of Anmore, WV; brother-in-law Robert A. White of Ball, LA & several neices & nephews. Family will receive friends Tuesday, July 1, 10-11 AM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Services will follow at 11 am at the funeral home.
