Robert E. Maxwell Sr.

Bartow - Robert E. Maxwell Sr., age 87, passed away April 30, 2022, at LRMC. He was born on October 18, 1934, in Quitman, GA to M.B. and Pearl Maxwell and moved to Bartow in 1947. He was an owner and operator of several local businesses including Florida Equipment & Service, Inc. and International Machine & Welding, Inc., was active in the banking industry, real estate development and served in the National Guard. He was a long time supporter of the Sheriff’s Youth Villa as well as many other charitable causes. An astute business man and upstanding member of the community, his accomplishments were equally matched as a husband, Daddy, and Papa. He was preceded in death by his sons Darrell Maxwell & Terrell Maxwell, brother Albert Maxwell and sisters Wilma Huff & Latrelle Needham. He is survived by loving family that includes his wife of 52 years Barbara Maxwell of Bartow, son Robert E. Maxwell Jr. of Bartow, daughters Cynthia Butler (Jerry) of Bartow & Susan Duncan of Homeland; grandchildren Shelly Duncan (Scott) of St. Petersburg, Stacy Allen (John) of Tampa, David Duncan of Lakeland, Scott Duncan of Homeland, Angela Lewis of Chardon, OH, Andrew Lewis of Bartow, Robert E. Maxwell III of Bartow, and great grandsons Leland Cordosi and Levon Allen as well and many nieces & nephews. Mr. Maxwell will be remembered for his generosity to everyone and devotion to his family and friends. He will be missed dearly. A private celebration of life will be held with immediate family.
