Robert E. Gassett

Homeland - Robert E. "Bob" Gassett, age 76, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013 at his residence in Homeland of heart failure. Born July 28, 1937 in Homeland, FL, Mr. Gassett was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a retired Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea & Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Post 3, Bartow, and the South Lakeland Moose Lodge. Mr. Gassett is survived by 2 sons: Clifton Gassett & Dwight Gassett, both of Granite City, IL; sister: Lois Reid (John), Lakeland; brother: James Gassett, Lakeland; 4 grandchildren, Ashlee, Chelsea, Shelbey & Nathan. Family will receive friends Friday, October 25, 2013 from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 AM at the Homeland Cemetery with military honors.
