Robert E. Barnes

Robert E. Barnes 72 of Bartow passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale. Born in Charleston, SC he moved to Bartow as a young boy and was a life long resident of the area. He retired from the Department of Transportation as a Highway Design Engineer with 38 years of service and was of the Baptist Faith. Robert was a loving family man and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents LB and Frances Elizabeth Barnes and a infant sister Linda Zanette Barnes. Robert is survived by his wife Marian Joan Barnes of Winter Haven. Four children Mark T. Barnes (Arlene) of Bartow; Julie M. Cochran (Keith) of Bartow; Rebecca J. Barnes (Amy) of Auburndale and Paul Barnes of Lakeland. Nine grandchildren Mandy Barnes and Theron Bartlett of Auburn, AL; Bryce, Emily and Madison Mills of Bartow; Mason and Reagan Barnes of Lakeland and Grayson and Maggie Barnes Harvill of Auburndale. Two sisters Helen Littlefield (Jack) of Bartow and Mary Lou Woods of Highland City. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10th from 10-11am at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow with a Graveside service to follow at 11am at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.
