Richard Allen Yates, 79, passed from this world to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 22 , 2018. Born on December 8, 1938 in Billings, MT to Levi and Marjorie Yates. He moved to Ft. Meade in 1950 from Absarokee, MT. He joined the US Navy in 1956. Richard met his wife of 59 years, Glenda Yates, while attending Ft. Meade Jr-Sr High School. After being discharged from the service, Richard worked for US Agri-Chem as an Electrician and retired after 40+ years. After getting married, Richard and Glenda lived in Bowling Green, FL until 1979 when they moved to Ft. Meade. He was a member of the First Church of God in Ft. Meade. Richard was a loving, caring and giving father of 3. He loved attending ball games, band functions, anything his children were involved in. Richard was a wonderful provider for his family. He had a love and passion for the outdoors, loved going to his orange grove, and hunting. Richard was preceded in death by his father Levi, mother Marjorie, brother Jimmy, and sister Louise Bailey. Those left to mourn his passing are wife Glenda, daughter Cynthia (Jim) Massey, son Stephen (Michele) Yates, son Kevin (Julie) Yates, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, brother Henry (Sherrill) Yates, and sister Sharon (Hugh) Burnsed. A Memorial service will be 10:30 am on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at First Church of God, 215 S. Perry Ave. in Fort Meade, FL. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery Columbarium in Bushnell, Florida at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to First Church of God, Ft. Meade, FL.
