Rev. Marshall Smart

Winter Haven- Rev. C. Marshall Smart, age 88 of Winter Haven, FL and formerly of Greenfield, IN, passed away Monday, August 29th 2016. Marshall was saved in 1948 under the preaching of his future father-in-law at the Nazarene Church in Miamisburg, OH. He pursued his calling by attending Bible College at God’s Bible School and Olivet Nazarene College. Marshall began his ministry by preaching on a street corner in West Union, OH. Rev. Smart was ordained in the Wesleyan Methodist Church in 1960 and Dr. Leslie Wilcox preached the ordination sermon. Marshall preached the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ for 65 years and thousands have come to Christ through his unique, anointed preaching. Marshall attended the God’s Missionary Church in Lakeland, FL and preached his final sermon on July 31st 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nadine (Hillman) Smart; 3 brothers, David Smart, Bud Smart and Stanford Smart; 1 sister, Thelma Roach. Marshall will be cherished in memory by his son, Timothy Smart of Winter Haven, FL; 3 brothers, Joe (wife, Jane) Smart, Clarence (wife, Shirley) Smart and Kent (wife, Cheryl) Smart; 1 sister, Mary (husband, Bud) Harper. 2 grandchildren, Angela Windham of Hartville, OH, Rev. Matthew Smart of St. Louis, MI; 4 great grandchildren, Lauren, Abigail, Olivia, and Adeline. . Family will receive friends at the Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, FL on Monday, September 5th from 4-6 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 6th at Hobe Sound Bible Church, 11295 S.E. Gomez Ave, Hobe Sound, FL. Condolences to family at www.whiddenmcleanfuneralhome.com
