Bartow - Ray L. Thompson, age 88, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Bartow Regional Medical Center. Born March 26, 1933 in Winter Haven, FL to Clinton & Samantha Lewis Thompson, Ray was a resident of Bartow since 1939, moving from Winter Haven. He was a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. He was a member of Mcleod Memorial Presbyterian Church and served as Elder. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and former member of the Florida National Guard. He enjoyed in his younger years deer hunting and fishing. As he got older, he continued to enjoy bowling and golf. Lately he enjoyed puzzles and going gambling in Immokalee. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gertrude "Gerty" Thompson of Bartow, a daughter: Stacey Troutt (Tim) of Highland City, a granddaughter: Kailey Jacobs (Brandon) of Richmond, VA, step grandsons: Colby (Deana) Troutt of Bartow, FL, Riley Troutt of Riverview, FL and Dawson Troutt of Highland City, FL, many nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces and great-great nephews and nieces. Family will receive friends Friday, January 21, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at McLeod Memorial Presbyterian Church, Bartow, funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM at the Church. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Bartow Wildwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to McLeod Memorial Presbyterian Church. Condolences to family at www.whiddenmcleanfuneralhome.com
