Philip J. Henderson

Philip J. Henderson, 76, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center from heart failure. He was born October 12, 1935 in Bowling Green, FL, He was in the US Navy, Electrician for IMC phosphate and a Boy Scout Leader for 25 years. He was a member of Highland Park Church of the Nazarene in Lakeland. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Henderson of Bartow. Daughter; Phyllis & Michael Smith of Bartow. Two Sons; Grady Henderson of Clarksville, OH and Randy & Kristie Henderson of Polk City. Sister; Louise Baucom & Brother; Merle Henderson, both of Wauchula. Seven Grandchildren; Zakery & Nathaniel Henderson of Polk City, Jared Henderson of Athens, OH, Alan & Lynnette Smith of Lakeland, Jessica & Adam Crawford of Lakeland, Evan Smith and Philip Smith both of Bartow. Three Great Grandchildren; Ava Smith, Noah Smith and Heather Crawford. The Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, 2/27/2012 Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 PM Highland Park Church of the Nazarene, 4777 Lakeland Highlands Rd in Lakeland. Graveside service 10:00 AM Tuesday, 2/28/2012 will be held at Wauchula Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Philip Henderson Boy Scout Scholarship Fund at Mid Florida Bank, proceeds of which will be used to pay for scouting expenses for area young men.
