Peter James Thompson Sr.

Mr. Peter "PJ" Thompson Sr. 83 died Jan. 31, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. A native of Iowa he moved to the Bartow area in 1980 from Pennsylvania. He was a retired Pennsylvania State Corrections Officer with 15 years of service and a Member of Saint Thomas Catholic Church in Bartow. Mr. Thompson was also a WWII Marine Corp Veteran serving in the South Pacific Theater and received the Purple Heart Award for being wounded in action. He was preceded in death by a son Gary Thompson and is survived by his wife Elizabeth Thompson of Bartow; Son Peter Thompson Jr. and wife Angela of TX; Daughter Deborah King and husband Robert of PA; Six grandchildren Michelle, Erica, Jason, Maria, Gabrielle, Anthony and eleven great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Thursday Feb. 5, 2008 at 9:00am at the Saint Thomas Catholic Church 2180 South Kissingen Ave. Bartow, FL.
